No. This pack supports awareness briefings only. For Class A or Class B licensed removalist certification, refer to a recognised NZ training provider β typically a 3β5 day course leading to a unit-standard qualification.
Can my supervisors deliver these talks?+
Yes β the toolbox talks are written for supervisor delivery with talking points and discussion prompts. The quiz allows competency verification after delivery.
Does this meet the duty to inform workers about the asbestos management plan?+
It gives you the delivery mechanism for it. The Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 require a management plan to be prepared and made accessible to workers who may be affected. These talks are how that information actually reaches the crew, and the attendance record is how you show it did. The plan itself is a separate document β use the Asbestos Management Plan template if you do not already hold one.
How often should awareness briefings be repeated?+
Set a cadence and hold it. Most sites run an initial briefing at induction and refresh it annually, with an additional talk whenever the asbestos register is updated, an unexpected material is found, or a new work area is opened. The pack contains several talks precisely so you can rotate topics rather than repeat the same session.
What records should I keep after delivering a talk?+
Keep the attendance sheet with signatures and date, the completed quizzes, and a note of the topic covered. These are the records that demonstrate workers were informed, and they are what an assessor or main contractor will ask to see. Retain them with your health and safety file β not loose on site.
